We are Starboard Maritime Intelligence Limited, a company incorporated in New Zealand (company number 8560691). Our registered office is at Level 1, 6 Johnsonville Road, Johnsonville, Wellington, 6037, New Zealand. When we say ‘we’, ‘us’ or ‘our, we’re talking about Starboard Maritime Intelligence Limited.

We collect, hold, use, and disclose your personal information in accordance with New Zealand privacy law.

2. Information we collect from you

We may collect the following information from you when you use our platform or otherwise interact with us:

You don’t have to provide us with your information. But if you choose not to, then we may be unable to provide you with our services.

3. Information others give us about you

We may receive your personal information from third-party websites or services, including through our use of Google Analytics.

The collection and use of your information, and disclosure of your information to us by a third party will be subject to that third party’s terms and policies.

4. Information you give us about other people

We may collect information about someone else from you, if you provide that information to us. By providing us with someone else’s personal information, you confirm you have that person’s authority to share their information with us. You also confirm that you’ve taken steps to ensure that person knows that their information may be used and disclosed by us for the purposes described in this privacy statement.

Cookies are pieces of information that are automatically downloaded to your computer or mobile device when you use a website.

We use cookies for a few different reasons. We’ll only share your personal information in the way described in this privacy policy, or if New Zealand privacy law says it’s fine to do so.

  • regulatory authorities, including the Police, if we’re required by law or if the relevant authority has requested that we provide them with assistance, including for the investigation, detection, and/or prevention of a crime;

  • our service providers (for example, providers that help us with data hosting and processing, software development, and managing our communications with you and others) for the purposes of delivering our platform, website, and services;

  • any other person where we are permitted or required to do so by New Zealand law.

We hold your personal information using equipment (such as servers) controlled by us, or by our service providers on our behalf.

We’ll only hold your personal information for so long as is necessary for the purposes described in this privacy statement and/or for so long as we’re required or permitted by New Zealand law.

9. Your rights of access and correction

Under New Zealand privacy law, you have the right to:

  • request access to the personal information we hold about you; and
  • request that we correct the personal information we hold about you.

It is important to us that the personal information we hold about you is accurate, complete, and up to date. To help us ensure that’s the case, please get in touch with us if we need to make changes to your information.

When you make a request, we may need to obtain personal information from you to identify you and check that you are who you say you are.
